Any, re:"As traditional networks get replaced, is LU better positioned technically to take advantage of industry trends* due to their understanding of telco-quality voice? (this is a question)"

This is one to watch play out. It should be fascinating. Here is another thought - will the winner prevail for position/tech reasons.... or... perhaps the winner will be the one who understands how to do business in the coming millennium?? In other words, which outfit rabidly services, teaches and leads its customers; and which is busier pontificating?

Or another way to test the vendors. Ask each to explain their equipment pricing in any rational way!

"I agree with you. I heard it was just passed DSL can't be more than $10-$12/mo? This will help-need to solve the home access problem."

This sharing ruling was a step. I hope it leads to better cheaper, faster deployment, but we'll have to see. I doubt it's enough though. I think even better access to local markets is needed.

I also think the figures you quoted are way to low, probably the idle speculation of some news flunkie. I'll celebrate if I see 40$ per mo. including ISP service. This will sell like popcorn!
