I can't hear!

Oh well JC, you kinda missed the points again. All Linux distributions are simplicity and water boys only have limits if they don't use Linux.

I thought that point was interesting about high freq being 1/2 of the sampling rate. My neighbor is a musician and he's got the latest 96hp audio gear, analog to digital to sync up to the riddems and back to your head trips x96. I can DEFINITELY hear a differemce with the 96hp card.

Linuix is only simplicity because the unix philosophy is portability (and open standards). There's no way you could make a better music alblum on a Linux boxen. The heavy riddems software is all Mac and DirectX Wintel blue screen Crapware. We tried getting the SEKD card to work on the Linux boxen -bzzt. The clowns in Germany wrote the freqin' Windows software in ASSEMBLER. They're not going to port it anytime soon.

I *wish* there was better music stuff for Linux. I'm an open sores MUSIC guy. I would love going around and evangalising music production on Linux. It's just not happening.

Q: Do you see the battle between open-source software and closed-source software as a conflict between good and evil?

No. I don;t see it as a conflict between ANYTHING. Open source doesn't mean better quality. I believe in 'open'. I believe that a lot of prayers are going to be answered by open source *nix on commodity HW and networks. I believe that intellectual property laws need to change in this country, and that we should become more of a society of 'creators' and less of 'consumers'. I do not think open source software is inherently better just because it's not wearing any pants. I do NOT think that there should be some kind of Spanish Inquisition by the Open Source Bishops.

I'm a zealot, but I'm not WEIRD!
