Jeff,
Probably not a conspiracy. After all, it WAS a movie. Any concerns of engendering panic are laughable. The entire eastern seaboard was blacked out and the only problem worth showing was one late-arriving airplane. Maybe a little pushing and shoving in Times Square....no riots, no looting, no one freezing, no mention of the emergency rooms on back-up power (if it works), no one stuck in elevators/subways (or at least they weren't worth showing)...lots of bikers drinking by candle light. Kinda gives you that warm fuzzy feeling, doesn't it <G>? Grandpa in Seattle was comfortably prepared with some food and water (not too much), while his far-out neighbor with the razor wire and shotgun got his just desserts. Evacuation of a 10-mile radius with only a momentary traffic jam. Rebellious, out of control teenager gets her comeuppance. Hero saves airliner in Dee Cee, then jets to Seattle to fix a nuclear power plant just in the nick of time. What a bore!

P.S., Oh, yes, airplane (F-18) falls out of the sky. Where were the shots of the toasters and VCRs going bonkers? |
