Hi Coug, thanks for writing. I do like you, a lot, and I do remember your helping get me out of trouble, which I do appreciate.
About the food clicks, I was not aware that you had taken a position, but for what it's worth, I agree with you, there's something that bothers me about the concept, and I think it's what you said. Why not just feed the people, why make it dependent on whether or not I click my mouse today? It seems like a cruel game.
About the understanding thing . . . . I think you misunderstood nihil and E about something. When nihil said that the poor don't feel pain and hunger like the rich do, he was being sarcastic. Of course the poor feel pain and hunger at least as much as the rich do, and much, much more, because they feel it all the time. Nihil has a way of talking that makes people not understand him sometimes. He's really very kind and compassionate. E is also very kind and compassionate, and when she agreed with him, she was joking, too.
Maybe it would be better if people didn't make jokes like that. I don't know. I think sometimes joking is a way of getting people to look at reality in a different way, so I don't think it's a bad thing, entirely. But it can be misunderstood, and that's not a good thing.
But here on DAR we sometimes make jokes about serious things, and we know when we are joking, usually. I guess this is a place we can feel safe. I certainly don't feel safe on Feelies anymore, and I am not going there anymore. |
