"Sun Solaris is free for an unlimited user license with any Sun Server purchase. Sun servers are priced very competitevely and usually cheaper than its competition from HP, IBM, Compaq, etc - so how can the OS be Overpriced?"
$2000+ for a stupid pieces of OS is not overprice?? Unfortunately, I have to pay to get the Engineering WS software to run on. But NT is coming. I just can not wait to place the Sun Sparc on the place that it is appropriate for... Trash container. Gosh, I have to wait 6 more weeks for it.
"Solaris is already open source - have a date when NT will be?"
Where is the Solaris source for UltraSparc???
"do you have any clue about the legal process, monopoly laws, and the history of the Microsoft lawsuits which resulted in Judge Jacksons decision?"
Antitrust law was designed to protect the consumer from Monopolist. Windows OS (either paid for by OEM or retail customers) are still half of the price of the MacOS, OS/2, and god forbids to Sun, IBM, or HP. Please do not give me the lesson that they are better, more complex and more stable. For the consumer it is just a few CD with info in it that copy from another CD or tape. If you stated that the info in there were cultivated by million of manpower then I can said the same about Windows. So Microsoft Windows is cheaper and more benefit to the consumer than the whole bunches of loser companies that "if you can not beat them, sues them. And if you can not sue them tell the government to sues them" |
