There was an article in Reuters today about an improved process for converting natural gas to oil.

"At least three companies -- Exxon Corp., South Africa's Sasol Ltd and a small U.S. firm, Syntroleum Corp -- believe they have overcome the obstacles to make gas-into-oil a commercial proposition."

"A report by New York investment bank Salomon Brothers was even more enthusiastic, saying the commercial production of oil from gas would be ``truly revolutionary,'' as it would result in the opening up of vast numbers of gas fields that are currently considered too far from consuming centers to be economically viable."

"The end-products are refinery feedstock or so-called middle distillates, such as kerosene and diesel, for which world demand is rising fast.

There was a lot more to the article and I stress that the process has not proven economical yet.

But I am wondering what the implications might be for GRNO. I know this is not "recycling" competition but if natural gas wells that were here-to-fore uneconomical to tap now became economically viable, could this not be competition? (Sorry about the grammar.)

The smallest processor is apparently 5000 bpd which holds a potential solution for 40% of the worlds gas fields which account for 95% of the known gas reserves.

In any event this news may account for some of the price drop.

Commnents.
