To all, there seems to be a very nice wave of anti-Rambus FUD coming through here.
I'm not the kind of guy who likes to blow my own horn, but this is exactly what I predicted several weeks back. After Barrett announced the 820 re-release and RMBS shot ahead to 90, I warned people that the anti-Rambus FUD will return in full force. And sure enough, the Rambus detractors currently outnumber the Rambus supporters on this thread at the moment. Not only that, but DDR, the poster child for the "un-Rambus," is receiving a lot of press these days.
This wave of anti-Rambus sentiment is probably one of the reasons why RMBS stock is falling steadily for the past week or two. Although I'm still very much a Rambus supporter, I also feel that buying and holding RMBS for the long-term is the last thing I want to do, given this stock's ups and downs. Due to some rather lucky trades, I got out completely in the low 90's some time ago, and I'm satisfied with my short-term gains. I hope to jump back in at the right time (keep those posts coming, Zeev).
As for Rambus' long-term future, most Intel coworkers I've talked to feel that even DDR SDRAM is just a short-term solution, and that Rambus will continue to show its benefits and advantages as we move forward with faster hardware and more demanding software.
