EUROTECH, Ltd. Acquires Controlling Interest in Breakthrough Technologies

November 23, 1999 WASHINGTON, DC. EUROTECH Ltd. (OTC: BB:EURO) announced today that EUROTECH, acquired controlling interest in six Israeli incubator technologies.
EUROTECH, Ltd. was a twenty per cent owner of these technologies in partnership with the Israeli government for two years and each technology will emerge from the incubator program by mid-2000. Each technology has sparked considerable excitement in their respective industry and will go directly from incubator to production.
EUROTECH, Ltd. president, Don V. Hahnfeldt, described the US-Israeli partnership in the incubator program, as a business success formula for new technologies. He expects these breakthrough technologies to be quickly pulled by their respective industries into production and a profitable share of 100-million-dollar markets.
The technologies with expanded ownership by EUROTECH, Ltd. included the hybrid non-isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU), Cobalt-Nickel Powders, Mineral-Based Sorbent, Quaternary Ammonium Silicates (QAS), Continuous Action Reactor (CAR), and rapidly biodegradable hydrophobic material (RBHM).
These acquisitions supplement an impressive group of EUROTECH technologies at the commercialization stage that includes the radiation-resistant, fire-resistant material EKOR, and rubber concrete (RubCon). Descriptions may be viewed on EUROTECH's website: eurotechltd.com.
Hybrid Nonisocyanate Polyurethane is the next generation of polyurethane with significant improvements over conventional monolithic polyurethane's porosity, hydrolytic stability and permeability. Additionally, Chemonol, Ltd. developed NIPU without toxic isocyanates, used in conventional methods.
NIPU is ideally suited to applications in crack-resistant composite materials, chemically resistant coatings, sealants, and glues in the automotive, aerospace, construction, industrial, marine, and retail industries.
Extra-Fine Powder Recovery of Cobalt and Nickel from fluoride salts with unified method powder production using chemically bound hydrogen was developed by Remptech, Ltd.
This method achieves extra-fine nickel powder, with a purity of 99.9 percent and particle size of 1-2 mm, and sub-micron 0.5 to 1.0 mm, is produced by carbonyl-vapor metallurgy processing in batch-type reactors at a pressure up to 70 atmospheres. Conventional methods produce about 5 mm grain powders at about 99.6% purity at higher temperatures and pressures.
Extra-fine cobalt and nickel powders have a wide range of applications, including cemented carbides, wear and corrosion-resistant alloys, diamond tools, metal welding and spraying components, magnetic materials, and industrial chemicals.
SB-1 developed by Sorbtech, Ltd., is a high capacity mineral composite sorbent for oil spill removal. The basalt non-woven fabric, processed in a special thermal vacuum and chemical treatment, creates an extremely high sorption capacity as compared to products currently on the market in absorbing oil from oil spills, harbors, industries and storage areas.
The mineral fiber material has a low production cost thus it has a good market price. When the SB-1 is applied over polluted water, only the oil is absorbed, improving the sorbent floating ability. Oil release from saturated SB-1 uses simple mechanical treatment such as wringers and centrifuges and extracted oil products can be reused with little if any reprocessing.
Quaternary Ammonium Silicates (QAS), highly stable organomineral polymers, developed by Amsil, Ltd., are a new kind of silicate material with excellent adhesion properties to hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces, high chemical resistance against water and acids, fire-resistance, and are environmentally compatible.
QAS have superior properties in comparison to epoxy resins and traditional silicates, including and has wide application in ammonia compounds and silicates.
The Continuous Action Reactor (CAR) produces various ceramic, composite and intermetallic powders using Continuous Combustion Synthesis offering a competitive advantage of increased productivity and lower production costs relative to conventional methods. The CAR, developed by Comsyntech, Ltd., replaces high-temperature furnaces as well as spraying and grinding equipment.
Materials produced from the Continuous Reaction Reactor exhibit excellent thermo-mechanical properties such as high strength, thermo and wear resistance and good corrosion stability that can be used the metalworking, metallurgy, aircraft and automotive construction, energy, and electronics industries.
Rapidly Biodegradable Hydrophobic Material (RBHM) is a cellulose-based, water-resistant, strong, cheap and completely biodegradable composite material, developed by Rademate, Ltd. RBHM improves the properties of paper products with plastic-like strength and water resistance.
This "super paper" gives cellulose-based material similar physical properties as plastic, except the material biodegrades completely in the same time as regular paper bags.
Due to its biodegradable nature, Rapid Biodegradable Hydrophobic Material is ideal as a commodity in trade, industry and agriculture for a wide range of applications, such as grocery and waste bags, the top and back sheets of disposable diapers, packs and disposable eating utensils, disposable plates and cups, films for food packaging, and miscellaneous everyday items and sanitary products.

EUROTECH Ltd. is a diversified technology holding company formed to capitalize on business opportunities through the acquisition and commercialization of advanced technologies developed by prominent research institutes and individual researchers worldwide.
