Re: Intel conferance call. I'm with you on this. But the more I think about it, it seems to me that Intel did not do that much to encourage a more optimistic outlook. Why I don't know.

To me the most gratuitous piece of information the company floated was the long term gross margin of 50%. Think about it. They said 2Q's margin would be 60% +/- "a few points". They also projected a 60% margin for 1997, if I remember correctly. Why mention a number that no one was likely to see for at least the next four or maybe even 8 quarters?

Naturally some of the gloomier analysts would glom onto that and skip the rest of the conferance call. It's a puzzlement.
