I think one of the key points in this announcement concerns one of the intended applications - storing an operating system, or perhaps both an operating system and an application (capacity permitting), and being able to send that application to DRAM more efficiently than with other systems. I'm not sure how much this feature would improve storing and retrieval of large pixel images or music. If it means that I don't have to wait 15 to 20 seconds between taking a photo in highest resolution and writing it to CF, then I can see some possibilities for competition with SNDK. But the announcement does not strike me as being able to improve performance in that way. Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge can help us here.
