5. $$$ PHONE.COM STARTED WITH STRONG BUY: FIRST BOSTON

Phone.com (PHCM, $147, up 2) was started by Credit Suisse First Boston
with a strong buy rating. The firm believes that Phone.com provides a
unique opportunity to capitalize on the two fastest-growing sectors in
technology -- wireless telecommunications and the Internet.

COMMENT: We can't agree more. We liken the WAP - Wireless Application
Protocol that Phone.com has implemented as the new "WWW": The Windows of
the Wireless World. We're trying to be cute here, but the point is that
Phone.com has developed an operating system for wireless phones to access
the Internet. There is a groundswell of companies writing programs using
their WAP operating system. We think that it can become the industry
standard and if so, will enable PHCM to license their operating system to
all comers and share in the monthly revenues of cellphone users for the
foreseeable future.
