Honda to set up two-wheeler plant in Haryana Honda Motor Co Ltd, Japan, the largest two-wheeler company in the world, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation today for setting up its two and three-wheeler manufacturing facility at Manesar.
The MoU was signed by Hideo Tanaka, director, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (pvt) Ltd and Dr Harbakhsh Singh, MD, HSIDC.
The project will be owned and operated by Honda's newly incorporated wholly owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (pvt) Ltd.
Honda expects to commence commercial production by later half of 2001 at the new plant with 4-stroke scooters.
Initial production capacity would be 100,000 units per annum, which would be increased to 300,000 units by year 2004.
At optimum capacity the project proposes to employ around 1,800 persons and will be committed to socio-economic development through quality products, environment friendly technology and compliance with emission norms, Tanaka said.
