I have a friend who joined Tivo before the IPO (and has done quite well!)

Unfortunately, I still can't get rid of the VCR because I tape movies that I watch again later. With the Tivo, you can watch it later, but you'll eventually have to dump it to make room for more shows you want to record. I have a library of 100 or so tapes, and the Tivo wouldn't hold all that. I've heard that the technology may be bundled directly into VCRs and TVs. That'll be an interesting play.
