EXCITE@HOME BRINGS BROADBAND INTERNET SERVICES TO COMPAQ CUSTOMERS COMPANIES CREATE NEW DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL FOR HIGH-SPEED INTERNET Services

Excite@Home (Nasdaq: ATHM) today announced that consumers will now be
able to get the @Home service through Compaq Corporation (NYSE: CPQ).
Consumers can visit Compaq's high-speed Internet services Web site
(www.compaq.com/mypresario/highspeed) to learn about the @Home service,
check to see if the service is available in their neighborhood, sign
up, and arrange for an installation. Consumers also can purchase Compaq
Presario PCs with network cards for a connection to the @Home service.
This arrangement is the first completed step in a collaboration formed
by Excite@Home and Compaq in November of last year to develop an easy,
end-to-end solution for Compaq customers who want high-speed cable
Internet access. Both organizations are committed to a long-term
strategic partnership to deliver broadband solutions to Compaq
customers.

the delivery of cable Internet services to the home, Excite@Home's OEM
sales and marketing program provides an easy, end-to-end solution for
consumers who want a high-speed cable Internet service. Consumers can
check if their home is serviceable for the @Home service, learn about
subscription program options, and sign-up for preferred times to be
installed by a cable technician, all in a single, easy to use Web
interface. When an order for the @Home service is placed on the Compaq
Web site, Excite@Home will work with Compaq to process the order and
bring the service to the user. Excite@Home will then work with its
cable partners to get the @Home service set up locally for the user.
