GEORGIA'S BULLDOG MASCOT UGA V DIES

(AP) - Uga V, the bulldog who served as the University of
Georgia's mascot from 1990 until his retirement this fall, and
was once rated the top mascot in the country by Sports
Illustrated, died Monday from congestive heart failure. The
mascot once graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, had a cameo
in Clint Eastwood's movie version of "Midnight in the Garden of
Good and Evil" and a photo of him lunging at Auburn receiver
Robert Baker on the sidelines made national news in 1996. "It's a
very significant loss," said Frank "Sonny" Seiler of Savannah,
owner of the Uga line of Bulldogs. "He was probably the most
active of all the dogs and was a great mascot for the university
and its athletic teams; but he was also a family pet and it's
always very traumatic to lose one." Uga V was officially
succeeded by his son Uga VI at the Sept. 11 Georgia-South
Carolina game.

O.K., smart guy, which one was in N.O. with us for our 1st N.C. - was it Uga III or Uga IV? <g>
