IBUI news, expected news and it's dropping.
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1999--LA Internet, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Internet Business's International, Inc. (OTC BB:IBUI) (www.ibui.net), today announced that their Free PC marketing strategy has been put into action across the US.
Supported by print and broadcast advertisements in both local and national media, the game plan calls for giving away a fully configured and Internet ready personal computer to every customer signing up for LA Internet's newly announced nationwide Internet service. The minimum term to qualify for the free computer is 36 months.
This is the first major promotion of the five year old ISP since it was acquired by Internet Business's International late in the second quarter of this year.
''We've spent several months laying the groundwork,'' said IBUI CEO, Albert Reda, ''With a promotion on this scale, we need to make sure everything is in place.''
Earlier this year, Free-PC, Inc., a unit of Bill Gross' Idealab!, made headlines by giving away 10,000 personal computers in a promotion centered around an advertising supported business model. That offer was reportedly fully subscribed within hours of the announcement.
''If our experience turns out to be anything at all like the Idealab promotion,'' continued Reda, ''this will be a very happy holiday season for our customers and even more so for our shareholders.''
Founded in 1994, LA Internet serves the nation through a system of over 700 local access numbers located throughout the country.
