This was my mother's recipe too, minus the allspice. I LOVE acorn squash. My kids won't eat it on principle of course. LIke their father, they think the only good vegetable is the one they manage to hide under their napkin.
I like this thread. It's so homey and nice to see all of you here trading recipes, so domestic. All of us in frilly aprons and pearls.
(Oh ok, I have on jeans and an old sweatshirt.)
