Paul,

I agree with you on Novell's inability to surface the industry and consumer's LOV (line of vision). They need to amplify the SIZZLE sound to the pounds of steak they have to offer. No one hears that Sizzle.

As we all on this board can remember - prior to the the Digital-Me public release in NYC, we were all hyped and excited at what Digital-Me will come out with.

Well maybe I am alone in my thoughts about this, but I was one of the first to jump on and try DM on its release (as well as others on this board). I have to tell you that I have not returned to the site since the first 2 weeks of its release. It had too many problems and there just was nothing on the site that encouraged me to return! I even took a quick peek today prior to writing this posting. Nothing new! Boring!

The "Onthenet" team NEEDS more commitment, imagination, and a TON more resources to make this site and suite of technologies that visually shows the industry how NDS-enablement can work on the Internet. Instead, with Adams moving onto a new role and not committing to the "Onthenet" team as much, it looks like the opposite is happening. It almost looks like less focus is being put on this new group and its efforts. I have to wonder if the great potential of this team to break the LOV barrier will die on the starting block.

I would love to see the "MYREALBOX" mail integrate into the DM site. I go to the MYREALBOX a few times a day - why? - because I have to check for incoming mail. I am forced to go there now. Nothing really forces me to the DM site. Its to inconvenient for me to use the transparent web-site login as compared to simply going to the site (count and compare the steps).

I would love to see the AOL instant messaging a visible part of the DM site. I would love to see a deal with Novell and ICQ (I think ICQ is one of the most powerful digital presence phenomenon on the Internet - Novell could only aspire to be as digital-me as ICQ is now). Make it so that NDS is the engine running a new version of ICQ and AIM client.

I would love to see some Internet retail vendors on the DM home page as advertised and committed vendors that I could click on and instantly get into based on my information in my object. This is opposed to me having to script an access to a web-site. This would require these vendors to API interface their website to DM's directory and natively extract my login information for that site.

I would like to see a complete re-work of the DM site. When I authenticate into DM, MY home page in DM should be customized to show my configured transparent access web sites complete with banner icons (like the alpha I saw in January) - similar to the Netscape site where "MyNetscape" shows me what I want to see. The current DM home page is completely generic.

Ahh - thats a start of what I would like to see. I am sure the team already has a wishlist similar to what I said, BUT they just dont have the resources (either human or $) to move fast enough on this Novell initiative.

If this is the case, Eric must make the decision if he wants to truly commit to this "Onthenet" initiative or not. He CANNOT do this HALFA??ed. Make the commitment and put whatever it takes to make it happen! Go into a partnership with a small ISP upstart or Web-site development company to move this along faster.

If the commitment is anything less that full Eric, save your money and improve the earnings results by reducing spending (which we all know what that means for future growth for Novell - "penny wise / Pound foolish").

The general point is that Novell has great products and its based on a technology that I truly believe (Directory Services) sets their other products apart from its competitors.

The problem is that they are not breaking the customer LOV. DM and the "Onthenet" team was a perfect concept to smash the LOV barrier. Lack of commitment on this concept is clearly keeping Novell from breaking this LOV barrier.

SHOW COMMITMENT TO THIS INITIATIVE! Dont make your technology the best kept secret in town!
