Flipping hurts the underwriter. If I was an underwriter i would not give shares to any firm who flipped, unless I found that that person really gives me more business than the loss I can take in flipping.

Keep in mind the UW do a solid research on the IPO price of the stock and if they re not confident of the pricing they seldom price. So if a stock opens substantially higher it is because the underwriters have a ball park idea where it might open based on demand. Also UW are not god. Sometimes they misjudge and have to bite the bullet.

I thing WIT's 60 day flipping is unfair, but I have to live it wit. I dont touch a stock which in my opinion wont hold for 60 days.

Believe me if eTrade and Wit will openly proclaim that people are allowed to flip we wont see any IPOs that are good.
