Thanks for your concern. I just talked to the pilot. The front didn't stall, in fact it sped up, and is over us as we speak. Current conditions are rainy with moderate to strong wind, but the air services based out of here are getting in and out. It's rainy and windy all along the Northwest coast, so wherever they go it will be bumpy, and icing will be a concern. May have to land and de-ice once or twice, although it's not that cold, so if they can stay low they should be okay. They are in the air as we speak, and now I won't know anything until they're on the ground somewhere. I have been in touch with Airporter and taxi services that serve all the main airports they would fly into if they can't get in here, so I'm prepared to make alternate plans wherever they come down. Of course we're hoping for the best, but one way or another I'll make sure they get home tonight.
The pilot, btw, is a late 50s woman who took up flying about 10 years ago, got excited about it, went all the way through up to instructor and air charter operator in three years, and has been flying charters for about five years. She lives with a woman partner, which would probably concern some people but is fine by me because it means she has somebody back at home who is as concerned about her as I am about my girls. All I care about is that she is a good and careful pilot, which she is.
Will let you all know when I know. Thanks again for the concern. |
