CPQ LONGS BEWARE ASHOK KUMAR by: ettubrutusad 11/24/1999 1:35 pm EST Msg: 118109 of 118113 I just got off the phone with investor relations and Alice McGuire told me that the issue of crediting customers who have an NT/Alpha server or workstation toward the purchase of a new Intel/NT system was discussed on the 3rd quarter conference call and thus the company is at a loss why Kumar would make such a remark. The company announced back on Aug. 29th (as reported by the WSJ on 8/30) that future versions of the Windows NT wouldn't run on the Alpha machines. At that time, Bill Heil, VP of CPQ's critical server division said that machines shipped with Alpha/Windows system accounted for just 2% of Alpha machine sales. So, as others have posted, clearly CPQ is doing the right thing by their customers and for long term good will by making this offer, which is not significant. More importantly, it appears again that some overpaid, overrated analyst is shooting his mouth off in a very unprofessional manner, for what purpose only he knows, if he even thinks. I have asked IR to email me the transcript from the conference call re: this issue and to provide me the telephone number for Piper Jaffray so that I can make a formal complaint against the unprofessional Mr. Kumar. I will post the number later if others on this board would like to do the same. I would urge you to do so. |
