In the 11/24/99 Standard & Poor's The Outlook, Newbridge is rated as three stars ("Hold-expected to be an average performer"). In contrast, S&P gives Cisco a five-star rating (Buy-Expected to be among the best performers over the next 12 months and rise in price.") While there is no write-up for NN, here are some of the comments S&P makes about Cisco:"Growth has been fueled by market share gains;" Cisco dominates the market for networking equipment to the corporate enterprise market;" "With data traffic expected to triple each year through 2002, Cisco's consistent execution and strong brand recognition should enable it to capitalize on the fast-emerging demand."

Ask the Newbridge personnel currently being terminated how they feel about NN's ongoing failure to consistently execute. The only thing keeping NN's stock price up, or from falling any further, is the speculation about a takeover.
