RE: "You have posted 10 consecutive negative news items about Intel the last two months....What's the deal?"

Hi Mary,

Good observation/catch. I didn't notice this pattern, but now that you've identified it, it makes sense:

A maverick is "one that refuses the beliefs of a group or resists adherence to a group." I like Maverick's role.

I think it's good to have someone play this role on the thread - to present all the angles on a stock (even if it's biased - although it helps to have someone find the bias, like you and Steve did.)

I found a pretty good post on the MSFT thread which I think applies to many stocks, especially INTC. INTC is such a solid stock, yet its not getting its fair share of the Internet attention, and, in some ways, maybe that's good (INTC acts as a stabilizer, with less of a drop when it's bad, and yet it has reasonable and solid overall returns.) I thought you might be interested in their discussion too. Here's her post - it could apply to any stock, like INTC:

"My experience tells me that I'm getting really close to a good opportunity to augment my position in Microsoft by buying additional shares. What am I waiting for? I'm waiting until I overhear conversations in restaurants, airports, elevators, and shopping malls about how Microsoft stock's price decline is inevitable. This will be my signal. My sense is that I'll receive it soon."

Replace MSFT with INTC, and I give my thanks to the Mavericks of the world. When people head for the exits, I head for the entrance.

Another interesting comment from the same poster, where INTC could be inserted for MSFT:

"Microsoft [INTC] tends to have a stabilizing effect on my portfolio and acts as a stable foundation on which to build more 'exciting' positions. Many times I would've closed a position just before 'party-time', if it wasn't for my Microsoft [INTC] holdings providing a safety net beneath my 'adventure' and allowing expected events time to play out."

Although, I wouldn't exactly say INTC isn't an exciting stock. It has its exciting moments, but overall, it's a solid/stable stock to own - something a person can sleep on. One of my favorites.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Mary and thread.

Regards,
Amy J
