Noticed this at the Microlimages site:
NEMO. (Navy Earth Map Observer). The U.S. Navy and the Navy and Space Technology Development Corp. (in Arlington, VA) will jointly build and operate a new mapping satellite with a hyperspectral imager and a five meter panchromatic imager. The hyperspectral sensor will be built by an unspecified company. The press release indicates that "the Navy is interested in coastal area details such as water depth,
bottom topography, hazards, temperature and clarity. This information is increasingly important due to the Navy's switch in emphasis from deep-water to shallow-water operations supporting ground troops, . . . The Space Technology Development Corporation will set up a spin-off company dubbed EarthMap to market NEMO imagery commercially for things like crop and resource mapping."
I think that this release came out some time ago.
