News Release
Vancouver BC, November 23rd, 1999. Further to the press release of November 22, 1999, Burntsand Inc. has now had a preliminary opportunity to review the Writ of Summons received on Friday, November 19, 1999, naming it and three of its employees in a lawsuit claiming, among other things, breach of copyright relating to some software. As a general response, Burntsand wants to emphasize that it does not utilize in any of its existing or past projects, nor does it intend to utilize, the type of software that it believes to be at the heart of this claim. On November 22, 1999 Burntsand filed an Appearance in the British Columbia supreme Court Registry indicating its intention to defend against this lawsuit. Burntsand intends to vigorously defend itself against all allegations made in the Statement of Claim and is currently working with its legal advisors to prepare a detailed Statement of Defence.
"It is unfortunate that LGS must fight its battles in the courts instead of in the marketplace," stated Jim Yeates, Chairman & CEO of Burntsand. "We are confident that these allegations both against Burntsand and its employees will be proven to be unfounded." |
