Very OT: Roebear,

Regarding El Nino, La Nina, and especially NAO: Scientific discovery of these weather oscillations and events is extremely new when considering glacial time. While we are on the verge of the possibility of understanding these events, our data base is so small we are still in the speculative realm. Do not get me wrong I find the information and speculation fascinating and believe we are on the right track of predicting short term weather patterns. I have yet to find any reports with any data that convince me that there is a case for global warming caused by industrialization outside of what has happened throughout the history of earth.

Along the gulf coast of Texas on any given day you will find tar balls on the beach. So many that you have to watch where you step. For years I was told by environmentalist and through newspaper articles that this was a direct result of our offshore drilling and/or shipping leaks. Then I discovered that throughout history the gulf floor has leaked oil and that when the Spaniards first landed on the Texas coast the Carancahua Indians used these tar balls for making fires and cooking.

The human race has always been arrogant when trying to interpret or understand Mother Earth. We have always thought that our existence was far more important than it actually is.

I guess that was enough for a week.

Have a good Thanksgiving to all
