Steve,
I sure hope mydiscountbroker turns out to be great for you, especially since I'm the one that mentioned it. Be sure to report back to us all the bloody details on how good/bad they are and how the transfer goes. I think there might be a few besides me looking to follow in your footsteps. Hey, you don't suppose they'd give us some sort of group deal, do you?

I've never done it but I think transfering assets can take several weeks since it's under control of the losing broker. Let's see if we can get milesov to tell us about his recent switch from Waterhose to Datek.

I kinda figured the way I'd do it (when I get around to it) was to open the new account with new $ and check it out first. Then, if you decide to really switch, pull the cash from short term traders out of the old account and send it to the new account yourself. Use the asset transfer just for long term holds to avoid the tax bite. If it takes a few weeks for those to transfer it's no big deal, since they're holders anyway.

Anyway, let us know how it all works out. K?
