Anyone know who might attend the upcoming OFDM roundtable conference? Obviously, Philips Semiconductor and Wi-LAN are two. Seems like a must-attend for the serious players, doesn't it?

Ref: "WI-LAN ORGANIZING OFDM MEETING" (DOW JONES NEWS 99/11/24)

While the rumors that Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) is in talks with Wi-LAN Inc. (T.WIN) have been around for weeks, a market source suggested that Wi-LAN's stock moved Thursday because Wi-LAN has invited industry players to attend an
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing roundtable conference in California Dec. 2.

If the alliance meeting is successful it would add credibility to Wi-LAN's OFDM technology. Wi-LAN spokeswoman Wanda Posehn confirmed that Wi-LAN and Philips Semiconductor have invited industry participants to an OFDM alliance meeting.

She declined to say what companies have been invited or if they have accepted the invitation, and declined to comment further on the meeting. Wi-LAN and Philips Semiconductor, a unit of Philips Electronics Ltd. (Z.PHE), already have a business relationship.

The market source believes an invitation has been extended to Cisco, other companies in Cisco's wireless industry standards-based partnership and other companies involved in the sector. A Cisco official couldn't be reached to confirm the invitation.
