Jurgen - What Eire did is entirely its own business. The City of London has done quite well for nearly four hundred years and I dare say would scrape a living together without the benefit of Europe. I think if you add up what Gt Britain pays against what it receives you will find that Britain is in no need of financial assistance from Europe. The UK has always been bitching about the EC, but at the same time they had their hands in Germany's and France's pockets and enjoyed the protective environment Well I suppose everyone is entitled to their view but a comment that we have enjoyed protection from Germany and France isn't quite the way we see things. In fact Jurgen if you don't mind my saying so we have had just about a belly full of Europe and especially Germany and its new found French friends ever since August 1914. For some unaccountable reason the Europeans will just not give up trying to dictate to us. They will never learn we won't submit to their jackboots no matter how much money is involved even if they should come goose stepping down Whitehall. L
