Actually I look at it differently: if you hold the conference call (if they do one at all--Briefing isn't listing it) after the close, analysts and traders are free to pay attention. The ones that take place during the session sometimes get lost in the action. Also, were an important announcement to be made, it's better to do it after hours, when there aren't any "trading halted pending news" problems.

And if you report before the open and schedule the conference call more or less right away, people on the West coast get pissed off because of the early hour. And there are a lotta tech analysts on the West coast. That's why IBM reported after the close this quarter for the first time.

Not that I actually believe we're gonna be running out for magnums of champagne later on. Just something to think about...
