Speaking of Fridays and IPOs, that seems to be the day of the week
to see the biggest first-day price pops. It has happened on the past
five Fridays in a row.
On Oct. 22, Sycamore Networks soared 386%. On Oct. 29, Akamai
Technologies leapt 458%. On Nov. 5, Cobalt Networks jumped 482%.
On Nov. 12, Finisar continued the run with a 357% increase. And last
week, on Nov. 19, CacheFlow rose 427% on its debut day.
Those deals rank No. 7, No. 5, No. 3, No. 9, and No. 6, respectively,
among the biggest first-day skyrockets, says Thomson Financial
Securities Data.
