Bernard, Thank you for saying what I wanted to say yesterday to Gabriel, but at the same time I wanted to acknowledge his fine contribution of that outstanding Briefing.Com write-up on Intel.
Harry, I wanted to comment on your post to me last night re Intel margins going forward, however, I don't have the time right now. I will try to write more on the subject of Intel's lower margins going forward this evening, however, I believe that was January's news. The increase in GPM in Q1 to 63.2, and expectation that margins will be above 60 % for 1997, (higher than could have been anticipated by analysts and probably even Intel itself), was Monday's conference call's big news. I don't know why, but Intel's last minute add-on comment, that margins for 97 would be in the upper end of its expected range of 60% + or - a few points, was missed by most of the analysts reports that I have read. When this begins to be understood by analysts, as I think it must, INTC will continue its surge upward. Regards, Jules |
