The Northern Miner Volume 85 Number 40 November 29-December 5, 1999

"EXPLORATION '99 - RARE METAL EXPLORATION ROUNDUP -- OGS confirms Pakeagama potential Summer field work by the Ontario Geological Survey has confirmed the exploration potential of the Pakeagama Lake rare-metal pegmatite, north of Red Lake, Ont. The pegmatite system and the adjoining area are under option to Sudbury-based junior Houston Lake Mining (HLM-A), and are described in the recently released OGS Open File Report 6000 as "one of the best exploration targets for tantalum and cesium in northwestern Ontario." The report recommends that exploration be carried out northwest and southeast of the Pakeagama Lake pegmatite at the boundary of the Berens River and Sachigo geological subprovinces. Apart from stripping bedrock and collecting 50 bulk samples, the OGS expanded the pegmatite's known dimensions to a minimum strike length of 260 metres and a width of 30-70 metres. Houston Lake has obtained duplicates of the OGS's samples and is running a separate set of assays. Results are pending."
