From someone on Yahoo Board...lp mentioned in Business Week: Refer to Business Week Article 12/7/98 by: killer_47 11/26/1999 11:50 am EST Msg: 5921 of 5922 Beginning on page 96 of the 12/7/98 Business Week article there is a discussion of fiber optics and the effect on the telecom + network space. Alastair Glass, the well respected head of phonotic research at Bell Labs/Lucent, describes the impact WDM (wavelength division multiplexing)will have on bandwidth and thus, the delivery of video, voice, and data in the future. Along with wireless the transmission media will change greatly going forward. LPTHA is mentioned in this article within the section where Harry Bosco, chief operating officer of Lucent's optical networking business describes the effects of WDM on bandwidth, as follows: "So-called 'metropolitan' WDM systems designed for short-haul links are now starting to show up in cities, he notes, and plug-in optical 'cards' for local area WDM networks are in the works at several telecom suppliers, including startups LightPath Technologies, Inc. in Albuquerque ..." Can someone on this board describe the "plug-in optical cards for local area WDM networks" mentioned in the quote. Secondly, any news on the success non-success with fiber optic switches + LPTHA is worth some discussion.
