My best friend is a Paramedic in Toronto. Based on the recent throne speech given by the Ontario Government and grumblings within the Ontario Health Care industry regarding Health Care fraud, it looks like Ontario will contemplate issuing a card with fingerprint recognition technology.

What I would like to clarify is the following:

Although Mytec is a Canadian company and has biometric technology, it may not automatically be the company awarded this government contract. There are well over 1 million health cards in this province, plus every doctor, hospital and health care provider who will need the software and biometric readers. Does Saflink have the majority of the vendors reselling their software or does IDX have more (or more influential) strategic partners?

Although the government may look for an Ontario solution first, our provincial leader is more cost conscious than he is patriotic.

I wish to clarify that I believe the probability of implementation is reasonable, but not certain (we have still a lot of bleeding heart liberals in Ontario, although the conservative government still has a majority government). Any comments appreciated.
