Thanks for the link gp. I did a little digging and found there
are literally dozens of companies working on fingerprint verification technologies. The approaches range from the use of holographic phase gratings to piezoelectric sensors, as well as several taking the capacitive approach this Lucent spinoff is using. Interesting stuff.
