HC, The following paper was written by Dan Lange on agent technology and can be found on his web page. Pretty much says what you offered, from the horses mouth so to speak. If you haven't read it it's very interesting, and pages 3-4 in particular mention the great potential of GMGC Kenya voice auction agent in an example on the EBAY auction site... This is a PDF file so allow a moment for it to load... genmagic.com While this paper was written last July, it would be interesting to browse some of the papers submitted at the ASA/MA '99 symposium. I'm sure they are as interesting and would give some feel for how soon the voice agent technology will be utilized... did some searching for the papers to no avail. Perhaps an e-mail to Dr. Lange would offer some insight as to a possible site where those papers might be available... I'll give it a try... Thanks for the interesting and thought provoking post.
