Thanks for the explanation. I should have recognised the issue. I didn't see it on the website, although I did read the connection with Gerry Garcia. It's certainly an eclectic group of causes. Funding anything other than a single-issue cause is like buying a mutual-fund I suppose. You decide you have faith in the manager's judgement based on what they have put money into in the past. By the way, I should have credited PBS for the idea concerning giving stock instead of cash. Not that anyone would have supposed it to have been original.
