Re: last ditch product rollouts and spectacular marketing efforts before going into bankruptcy...

If you think about it for a minute, the only last ditch product rollouts and spectacular marketing efforts we've seen recently in this business were Intel's rambus motherboards and the Coppermine processors.

Try to find a Coppermine for sale with rambus somewhere other than a web site that promises "someday" delivery.

When were they expected to be out in volume, first May then September?

Gateway got tired of waiting, who's next?

Like General Motors, Intel will survive thanks to its size and accumulated capital cushion. But mere survival can be a pretty painful state.

Too bad about the Video Chip business writeoffs, and the Rambus investment losses, and the billions in "goodwill" added to the balance sheet over the past few months. You know the old saying, "a billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talking real money."
