Yes, our Thanksgiving was wonderful. We have Thanksgiving every year with the same group of friends, many at the table and lots of fun, and ludicrous post-prandial talent shows or challenges (mine was to make a four year old (who holds the championship for not-being-able-to-be-made-to-laugh) laugh)(I failed, but came closer than is usual, I was told; I personally felt he cheated by resting his chin on his palms and holding his cheeks with his hands.) We will go to Seattle for almost three weeks at Christmas for a family holiday. You know I love them, or I would never sleep on a futon for that long. Futons are a nightmare. You wake up with bruises on your hip bones.
Tell me what is the vegetarian substitute for eggs?! I would like to give it a try in a pecan pie. No, wait a minute, it's GAUGIE who's the vegetarian. I mean HE would like to, maybe. A custard pie w/o eggs seems pretty dubious, but maybe a pecan pie would survive the substitution, at least well enough for a person who, like Gaugie, has suffered from decades of pecan pie deprivation.
I do a better-than-passable pumpkin pie without any fat in it at all except for what is in the crust. (Just use egg whites and evaporated skim milk.)
I hope your Thanksgiving was lovely, and that your aunt wasn't too sad.
[EDIT: I just went to do my post-midnight click on hungersite.com, and discovered that the amount of food I donated with my click was THREE CUPS!!! That is more than I've ever seen, the previous high having been 2 1/4!!! I'm so happy about this! And thanks, Edwarda, for being part of the project....] |
