The new 4 layer reference board and lower power requirements of .18 parts should cut Athlon system costs by $60 to $100 and will be in use by January. Rambus costs will come down, but how far how soon? Right now the cost of Rambus in this system is being subsidized by someone (Compaq? Memory Manufacturer? Intel?) since we know that 128 meg of PC800 costs about $500 more than 128 meg of PC100 at current prices. The race is on! Regards, Dan
