Funny. I hear that Profusion 8-way chipset sales are growing at a very healthy rate this quarter. That means more sales of 550 MHz Xeons w/ 2 MB of cache at over $3,000 a pop.

Sure, it would be nice if those 2 MB Xeons were available at higher speeds, but those 550 MHz versions are still going to make a significant positive impact on Intel's ASP.

It's understandable why not many customers are going with the Coppermine Xeons. But that doesn't mean Xeon sales as a whole are falling. In fact, thanks to Profusion, the reverse may be true.
