As has already been pointed out to you by Perry, IJ answered this at an earnings conference. I believe he has said this publicly on more than one occasion. The truth is unimiportant here however, money is at stake.

Many GSM companies, primarily led by ERICY and NOK, pushed a technology called W-CDMA as a technologically equal but royalty free alternative to CDMA, which all agreed was owned by Q.

This is a smokescreen, and they are just using it as a bargaining chip to minimize how much they have to pay to the Q. ERICY has capitulated but does not wish to admit in public that it's previous statements were fabrications. Q, to its credit, does not make them, just made a deal. They'll do the same with Nokia and the issue will disappear.

In negotiating, nothing is yielded without a corresponding gain. Effective negotiators can turn "thin air" into a point to be conceeded, and therefore compromised, and therefore paid for.

I don't remember the name of it, but there was a movie once where a character was given advice about not admitting to his wife he'd had an affair no matter how much evidence she had. It was ludicrous, very funny, and it worked (in the movies).

Don't worry, they'll pay.
