I believe the wireless spinoff will raise about $10 billion, so the money will be there. The question is where will the new wireless sub spend it? Didn't Dr. IJ say that non-CDMA carriers can upgrade for data? Can they do this with 1X as well as with HDR.

So T can say, we are keeping TDMA for voice and using a better (and less expensive?) technology for data. The eventual switch to an all-CDMA network, many years down the road, would then be less problematic.

Does this scenario make sense?
