Mark and all,
Still another interviewee in today's Barron's recommended Seagate as an asset play, this time pairing them with a short sale of Veritas. The interview was with a guy who runs a hedge fund who claims to have beaten the S&P over the past 20 years, not an easy feat. However, I don't think that shorting Veritas is an especially good idea here. It could easily continue to go up despite its high valuation, and, while when asked about this he suggested that Seagate would at least track it on the upside since SEG's price is now below the value of their VRTS holding, there is nothing intrinsically necessary about this. Seagate could still just sit, or have a lukewarm rise whatever Veritas does, the guy is playing with fire in this market, IMHO.
