Ed, I had one of those stocks that tripled, quadrupled but over time not over night. It faked me out. Kept having good news good news and the stock just would not MOVE! When it did move it would make a big jump and then level, drop a bit, go sideways and then boom up again. The stock is TTN and it is one I did not chart very well or do very well on. One of those learning experiences!
Your search for big movers in one week is an elusive one. I wish you the best of luck, I started out the same way. Basically I have now specialized, become very familiar with a few categories such as XAU and OSX stocks and catch moves there, sometimes nice ones in a short time. Over a period of time I have really increased my "scores" by learning the sectors I trade.
I also watch Uncle Ike here for market levels!
Perhaps the best site I know of (besides this thread) for short term moves is securitytrader.com, they have a seven day free trial, are not very expensive, and combine teaching stock and market moves with daily stock setups. They are good, but not foolproof by any means, and Ike does better with his ranges on the indexes (though when both Ike and ST agree, wow!). Securitytrader usually takes all or most profits before anything gets to a double, that's just their way and it works for them.
You should also read this thread for the last year or three, it is one of the best educations on stock and index trading on the net, thanks to IQBAL LATIF and friends.
