Hi elmer:
Your posting has all the earmarks of someone "hearing footsteps". A last gasp/hope that AMD falters with its Athlon market penetration into what has hitherto been Intel's "inner sanctum" of guaranteed high margins.
Your projected loss of $0.62 for 99Q4 also reflects more "wishful thinking" than any analytical substance and is reflective of someone who is out of touch with the reality of the "here and now". The Athlon is the "here and now" and is penetrating market rapidly. Its "some-time-in-the-future" competitor from Intel is still "some-place-out-there"!
elmer, open your eyes!!! The Athlon is "the better mousetrap at the better price" and is readily available at retail, NOW!!!
elmer, do you honestly believe that anyone can come up with "abetter mousetrap at a better price" than the Athlon in the near term...From this investor's perspective: "It just ain't gonna happen"!
AMD management, with its outstanding judgment, foresight and decision-making, has orchestrated an enormouds turnaround in the fortunes of AMD. Even you, elmer, have to be impressed with the prospect of Q499 $1 billion in revenues and positive earnings, given the August prospects of the Miathlon as presented by some here.
elmer, looking ahead to Y2000, how about the prospect of 10 million Athlons, 15 million non-Athlons and $2 billion in fash memory revenues. All that could easily add up to $6 billion in revenues in Y2000...or, elmer, are you ready for this? a $2 billion (not a $1 billion) 2000Q4...
Not impossible, elmer, just as 1.5 million shipped Athlons by the end of 99Q4 is not impossible, despite the fact that this Athlon, according to some here, was MIA in August, (only 3 months ago?) and would never see the light of day.
elmer, perhaps you might be more at home on the intel thread with the likes of Lucy and pals. Fiction writing seems to be your strength! |
