mact,

I think you stated it accurately when you said a longer hold time frame for this stock than many other internet companies for the following reasons:

1) Huge European ownership means that the majority of the public float is in the hands of investors not usually used to the lofty valuations that US investors put on internet companies.

2) Although TRRA has geographically diverse operations, including US, it is likely that anytime a problem arises anywhere in LATAM or the emerging markets, expect TRRA to take a hit.

3)Short term, concerns over y2k effect on emerging markets may keep alot of investing dollars out until last 1st Q of 2000.

4) TEF has a history of doing less than arms length transactions with its affiliates, even majority owned subsidiaries-see stories on Telefonica of Chile for instance.

However, I believe that within a couple of years LATAM and hispanic oriented internet sites in the US will be a huge and profitable market and I would expect TRRA will be not only a survivor, but a leader in the area.

Good luck with your investment.
