To quote you, some are saying that it was the Athlon that put CPQ on top. Next it will be AMD who will determine who runs for President next year. Just as the thread was hypercritical of AMD just 3-4 months ago, now it seems the thread thinks that AMD can do no wrong. Remember AMD APPEARS to be changing but it certainly is not happening this fast. And don't forget who the competitor is, intc, the most succesful chipmaker the world has seen to date. This situation is analoguous to the education argument waged by the intellidiots like m.cluney, and her compadres like j. gauthier and elmer. In her pomposity and arrogance cluney argues with Ali, claiming over and over that the US has the best education in the world when qualifying statistics have shown for years that this is not true. The US, in fact, usually comes in 8th-10th. However the US wins out in many areas (altough not all like the intellidiot claims) because of its large size and numbers, and its already established lead in many industries. Intc is like the US. It has the lead in many areas of he chip world. And even though intc has screwed up in the past few months, it is still a huge and wealthy fighting machine that NEVER can be underestimated. To do so would be foolhardy. Most analysts consider a company's turnaround successful when it has 4-6 quarters of sequential and YOY growth under its belt. So its a little early for AMD to "party like its 1999". But it is okay to party like its 1998 ;~) ted
