FWIW. I had dinner with a communication director at Morgan Stanley the other day. During our conversation, he told me that he was going to be working thru the New Years weekend as MS was preparing for y2k glitches. I asked what were the companies expectations considering their strategic position. In no uncertain terms, he stated that they do not expect any significant dislocations in both communications, banking, the markets, etc. MS along with major banks, communications companies both domestic and foreign have conducted many coordinated tests within these groups with little dislocation. His expectations, that globally, their would be problems, but life would continue with little dislocation to the population in the course of their daily lives. He said there were many contingency plans in place to deal with the problems as they developed and within two months of the changeover, it would be a distant memory with new problems and new worries. I offer this as one professionals opinion.
